How We Choose Our Winners
When selecting winners in the City Landscape, Wildlife, and Cars categories, the club focuses on strong composition, clear storytelling, and technical skill. In City Landscape entries, judges look for images that capture the character of an urban environment through thoughtful framing, creative use of light, and a sense of place. Wildlife photos are chosen for their ability to show animals naturally and respectfully, with attention to timing, detail, and the relationship between the subject and its environment. Car photography is evaluated on how well the photographer highlights form, motion, and craftsmanship through angles, reflections, and setting.
Across all categories, winning photos stand out through originality and the ability to make viewers pause and feel something. Judges look for images that show effort, intention, and a clear artistic vision. Color, clarity, and technical accuracy matter, but creativity and emotional impact play an equal role. The best photos communicate more than a single moment and show that the photographer engaged with their subject thoughtfully and with purpose.
